Parens patriae: gov can take custody and control over juveniles. No jury during the trial at juvenile court (only the judge) Expectation of privacy but the school can search under reasonable suspicion. Abused children: sufer physical abuse (added emotional abuse recently) Status ofender: juvenile violates a law speciically written for them; an issue because of their age. Safe haven infant protection act: 30 days to hand your child to a hospital or police if you don"t want your child. Curbside adjustment: can deal with the problem right then and there. Station house adjustment: pay for damages and do community service. Don"t give them a complaint and when you bring them into the system you bring them into custody, don"t arrest them. Transfer hearing: wave child up to adult charges. If juvenile under advice of the council decides they want to plead guilty they agree to the inding.
