Chapter 5 health care crisis behind bars. Inwardly attacks body while outwardly poses threat to others: judgement by god, immoral and unhealthy. Prisoners with hiv/aids: stigma against them, people fear them and think they are inflicted with plague or disease, problem population prisoners who need medical attention (?) Myths and misconceptions: cannot be transmitted through casual contact, people still act based on myths and fear. Inadequate medical care: public concern to treat prisoners with hiv/aids hampered by lack of awareness, apathy or hostility towards said prisoners. Tuberculosis in corrections: public health threat, highly contagious disease spready by bacteria which becomes airborne when infected person coughs or sneezing and others inhale the bacteria. Aging prisoners: high population of aging prisoners behind bars, programs should be changed to help deal with growth in this population.
