Principles of free expression jurisprudence: strauss says that to understand the first amendment, there are 3 principles that are bedrock in the law: Not all speech should be protected as rigorously as speech criticizing government: low value speech: obscenity, commercial speech, false and defamatory statements, can get some protection but not all protection, can be regulated by the government. There is a functions among different kinds of regulation.
