Document Summary
Classical (pavlovian) conditioning: the process by which an organism learns a new association between two stimuli- a neutral stimulus and one that already evokes a reflexive response. Unconditioned reflexes- dogs salivate when meat power is put in their mouths. Unconditioned stimulus (us or ucs): an event that automatically elicits an unconditioned response. Unconditioned response: (ur or ucr): the action that the unconditioned stimulus elicits. Conditioned stimulus (cs): a stimulus whose response depends o the preceding conditions. Conditioned response (cs): whatever response the cs elicits as a result of the conditioning (stimulus) Extinction: a process through which the cs no longer elicits the cr. Usually because the cs is no longer a reliable predictor of the us. Renewal: recovery of acquisition performance when contextual cues during extinction are changed. Context: patterns on wall, floor level or not, different odors. Train in context a, extinguish in context b, test in context a. Extinction is specific to the therapeutic setting.
