How recognize person"s shape when wearing different clothing. Trying to achieve a recognition system - recognize them equally well no matter what location they are in. Airplane pointing left vs. airplane point right - recognize them either way. Brain is set up in a viewer-centered system. Different cells have different location in viewpoint looking from and translate to a more robust thing can be seen in any viewpoint. Assumption was that everybody can do this - recognize anything no matter what and that ppl do this from any viewpoint equally easily but nobody tested this when it was proposed. Viewpoint dependence if show ppl objects in different orientations, do you get the same response? misorientation: Point of shape constancy si that it doesn"t base on orientation. This is a blicket - will teach you orientation. Higher number on y axis (when rt) - means slower, not better, means worse.
