Document Summary

Hm: difference between procedural memory (which he could consolidate) and everything else (which he could not) Could not move from short to long term bc nothing new was put in so did not learn anything except for procedural. Ability to do gets better and better - like automization - processes that are effortful become more automatic and require less attention and get better at it. One might imagine that in day 2, hm would go back to the drawing board. But he could consolidate motor skills and he continued like a normal (unaffected) person even though he doesn"t remember ever doing the task before. Shows a separation in memory systems that nobody had suspected before. Knowledge of information that can be stored as propositions. Propositions - statements that have a truth value (has true or false) - facts. All one form of memory - synonymous terms. Semantic - meaning related: episodic, personal experiences; subjective point of view.
