Works very well but can be frustrating because it takes up lots of time of day and tasks are boring for adults. Kids easier because they want to play with the toys and because it"s usually a shorter time with parental assistance. Motor fxn disorder: can"t move one or more limbs. Occupational therapist: focus on activities of daily living: feeding, comb hair, etc. Language processing is complex for speaker and listener. Pick words to communicate: depending on what you want to express. Need to plan motor movement to produce those sounds. Sounds must go to another person to hear and understand. Then you get the idea that they understand. Has to master speech even though it"s not as good as a normal person. You must connect to wernicke"s area to comprehend. Note: all areas around lateral fissure in old model. Areas that light up aren"t only wernicke"s area which what the old model fails to predict.
