Document Summary
** this is what i combined from the lecture material from aggression and the aggression slides** Lecture material from aggression: slides 20 31. The remaining topics for aggression (media and reducing aggression) will be covered in class on monday april 11. Slide 20: the fourth theory of aggression to be covered in this unit, aversive stimulation aggression, is largely a combination of the classic frustration aggression argument and social learning theory. Aversive stimulation theory differs from the classic f a and social learning theories in 2 ways. First, the aversive stimulation theory expands the range of antecedents of aggression by including a larger set of triggers of negative arousal (anger). Essentially any aversive stimulus is sufficient to create negative arousal and serve as a trigger for aggression (slide 21). Examples of aversive stimuli: physical pain, psychological pain, heat, frustration, relative deprivation.
