Taxonomies of personality cattel: cattell 16 personality factor system, s-data, t-data. Development of five-factor model (big five: allport and odbert (1936) lexical approach. Identified 17,953 trait terms in dictionary: 1. Metaphorical, physical, and doubtful terms: cattel (1943) used stable traits 35 clusters of personality traits, fiske (1949) factor analyzed 22 of these 35 clusters 5 factors, same five basic factors identified in various samples. Interracial attitudes are usually in these people: being creative or open to new experiences, artistic people, less stress activity, open to believing ufos, trying new food. Approaches to measuring the big five: self-ratings of single-word trait adjectives, self-ratings of sentence items, neo pi-r. In the us, extraversion and agreeableness in the south: low neuroticism in the west coast and rocky mountain, high neuroticism in the north east; new york, new jersey, women tend to be higher in neuroticism. Interactism traits and situations interact to produce behavior.
