Advanced topics in human cognition - class 1. Class will end at 6pm for most classes. Participation, take-home essay 1, take-home essay 2, and nal project all 20-30% of grade, top scoring student will get 100. Exam will be open book and take home, 24 hours to do them, up to 4 pages double spaced maximum. Final project 10 minute case presentation, one that has not been covered in class, 40% of grade is the presentation, Mind and brain an empirical example: wilder pen eld, direct electrical stimulation of cortex, produces mental sensations of thinking, perceiving etc. , rather than a sense of the brain being stimulated.
