Christians believe in 2 parts: old/ new testament. Judaism only believe in one part : old test. called the hebrew bible. Old : god created people of israel judaism view. Word bible comes from the word biblos (meaning book) Last book was finished by third century bc. Pentateuch : 5 books (first) aka 5 books of moses. To the jewish, they are considered the most sacred books in the bible. Historical books : where most of history is taken place. Wisdom books (poetic books) : wisdom sayings/ poems. Death and afterlife jewish views before exile (pre exilic period) So the jews had no kings for cushile because yahweh was their king. Yahweh made a contract between 2 parties covenant with israel. System of rewards and punishments is another name for the old testament. If they keep their promise god will reward them but if they break their promise or disobey god, he will punish them.
