This is what agnew is going to try to address. Strain and the frustration are measured as high aspirations of achieving something and low expectations of achieving something. Someone who has high aspirations of graduating college and low expectations of graduating college. Creates a gap between aspirations and expectations = this is. Criminologists pass out self-report study- ask kids if they did crime. Compare kids who are delinquent and kids who are non- delinquents. If the traditional strain theories are right, then the kids who are delinquents should be more strained. The kids who are not delinquents should not be suffering from strain- there should be a small gap- the aspirations and expectations should match.
