Document Summary

We all have feature that are fixed (race, sex, orientation) and have some level. Some feature we have give us a level of privilege of changeability (class, education, location). How one benefits from society based on a fixed or changeable feature. Features chosen by those in power; things like gender and race are actually social constructs which can change over time (white mexicans vs non-white mexicans) depending how those in power can benefit. + one drop rule (less power) vs one eighth rule (less benefits) There are many different types of privilege and you can benefit from one and not others (white woman, black heterosexual) Oftentimes those with privilege will deny that they have it because their life is still hard in some way. P doesn"t mean suddenly have ~everything perfect~, means benefits on that particular platform. Oftentimes privileged groups will inter- instead of intra- compare (white man measuring his success against other white men instead of white women)
