Tensions between spanish and english continued to rise because they were both trying to claim land in north america. Squatters continued to squat on indigenous lands to claim ownership of them. Rangers at forefront of ethnic cleansing to clear region for british settlement. English and spain agents attempted to persuade the cherokee nation to fight on their sides if war erupted.
