Familiar words dyadic communication- between two people, as in. Audience wants you to have their need and interest: developing an effective oral style. Routinely repeat key words and phrases to emphasize ideas. Spoken language more interactive and inclusive of audience than written language. Speakers make specific references to themselves and audience to show what they think and feel. Conversationalists, writers, and speakers share an important quality: focus on offering something of value for the audience: become an inclusive speaker at heart, and to feel recognized and included in the message. Speaker must be able to address diverse audiences with sensitivity. David c. thomas and kerr inkson-> public speakers must cultivate cultural intelligence. Cultural intelligence- skilled and flexible about understanding a culture, learning about it from interactions, reshaping thinking to be more empathetic, developing behavior to be more skilled and appropriate when interacting with others from the culture.
