6 views3 pages

Document Summary

Motor memory: persistence of the acquired capability for performance. You have memory of a skill if you can perform the skill after not having practiced it for a year/month/day . Muscle memory: the ability to acquire muscle mass and strength more quickly after retraining. Cannot be measured directly must be inferred from performance. An inability to retrieve a specific memory may only reflect a problem with the retrieval mechanism not the memory. Retention and transfer: both refer to persistence or lack of persistence of the performance. Test of memory on retention is a test of performance. You must be careful in interpreting poor performance on a retention test (why?) Tests on transfer involve switching to different tasks or conditions. You are tested on something different than what you practiced. Absolute retention: level of performance on the initial trial(s) of the retention test. Relative retention: measures the absolute score relative to scores obtained during the practice trails.
