Document Summary
Perception is the process of interpreting and understanding one"s environment. The process of perception is complex but it can be boiled down to four steps. We should question on how errors in perception happen, and how it affects a manager"s judgement and job as they can lead to mistakes that can be damaging to yourself, other people and your organisation. Psychological contract based on the assumptions we make about the organisation and based on our perceptions and the underlying assumptions when we make judgements about what we expect from the organisation and what they expect from us. Self-fulfilling prophecy(the pygmalion effect) describes the phenomenon in which people"s expectations of themselves or others lead them to behave in ways that make those expectations come true. Research has shown by raising manager"s expectations for individuals, productivity can be increased. Work-related attitude and behaviour managers need to deal with.
