PSY 100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Scatter Plot
Document Summary
If scientists actively track events and quantify it is called correlational study. Here, as in experiments, we don"t intervene and change behaviours. We identify patterns of relationships in correlation research but we usually can not infer what causes what. Importantly, you should analyze only two variables at a time, no more and no less for correlational research. You might be able to use a correlation design which is exactly what. He asked people how much of their money they spent on others or donated to charity, and then later asked how happy they were. The more money people reported spending on others, the happier they were. We can map the relationship between the two scores on what is known as a scatterplot and figure out how well two variables match (figure 1). Each dot in the scatterplot represents a data point. (in this case it"s individuals but it may be any other unit. )
