PSY 145 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Human Capital, Psych
Document Summary
Productivity: productivity is an integral aspect of the human development model, requiring innovation in people and an encouraging macroeconomic climate for them to realize their full potential. So economic growth is a subset of models of human development an integral part but not the entire framework: most east asian economies have stimulated their development by spending massive amounts of human resources. Some recent development models are mainly focused on human capital but sadly this still views people as a means of growth. Although this is true to some degree, it obscures people"s centrality as the ultimate end of creation. This is why efficiency can only be viewed as a part of the human development paradigm with prosperity, sustainability and empowerment being given equal importance. Empowerment: the model of human development is not paternalistic, nor based on ideas of charity or welfare.
