Document Summary

More education = more likely to have a higher income. Not everyone can get the proper education to achieve social mobility. Education system will often reproduce the social class that a student starts at, as the student grows up they will stay in the same position. Through their experiences in the education system. Paul willis observed male high school students in the working class (great britain) (didn"t say those words but aware of the process) Found that students were aware of social reproduction. School wasn"t focused on furthering their education to college, they were sort of putting them on the same path. Students said that school is for the nerds and jerks that just want to be smart, the teachers don"t care about us, they resented schooling and that students were treated differently. Same study done in the united states by jay macleod.
