There are debates concerning the relationship between people and machines, particularly as technology begins to play a more dominant role in our lives. First, there are ways in which mediated communication exerts a certain level of authority over people. It controls the way we think, speak, and act (p. 9). Another debate is related to the level of intervention that machines and technology have in people"s lives, which includes the possibility that humans will one day be cyborgs (p. 35). Technologies can become seamlessly integrated into every day human experience, which means they no longer feel like they are automated but begin to feel more human (p. 38). They may change the way we feel, think, and act without us even realizing this. This central debate has to do with discovering how much technology should be integrated with human life. transhumanism is this debate taken to its conclusion.
