Severe psychopathological disorder characterized by negative and positive symptoms and/or cognitive symptoms. Split mind memory, thought, and emotion not working together: positive symptoms: gaining abnormal behavior, hallucinations, delusions, excited motor behavior, negative symptoms: loss of normal function. Impoverished speech, emotional/social withdrawal, blunted affect (no emotion) If treated, can function back in society: emotional, depression, reduced emotional expression (facial expression, anhedonia: loss of the ability to feel pleasure in every day activity, motivational impairment, alogia: reduction in conversation abilities, lose ability to sustain activities. Social withdrawal: cognitive symptoms, problems with attention/working memory, social perception changes --- memory problems, poor attention span, reduced decision making, poor social cognition, abnormal movement patterns. Issue comes from manipulating it in head and in the external world. If one of the twins develops schizophrenia in a monozygotic twin, there is a 50/50 chance of the other one developing it: dizygotic twins: fraternal, two eggs, different genetic makeup.
