12 views2 pages

Document Summary

Studies on individuals, population, community, and/or ecosystem. Urban wildlife interface (where urban areas meet wildlife come into contact) Sun photosynthesis makes food [chloroplast (plants) lysosomes (animal)] plants, animals, cellular respiration people. O 2 & h 2 o sunlight (light reaction) (glucose) Cellular respiration o 2 (glucose) atp (co 2 & h 2 o) Glucose : some goes into cellular respiration & some goes into cell growth. C3 (basic photosynthesis): water through roots, carbon dioxide through stomata. [problem: stomata closes-- not enough carbon dioxide coming in] water efficiency is low (ex. C4: co 2 intake and photosynthesis spatially separated [can store carbon for a long time] (ex. corn, sugarcane) Cam: co2 intake and photosynthesis temporarily separated. Doesn"t need a whole lot of water to do photosynthesis. (ex. cactus, pineapple) Sugars not used as food are used for plant growth. Deforestation decreasing amount of co 2 being removed from atmosphere. Food is no longer converted to chemical energy.
