Protectorate = regions (generally in africa) put under the protection of large european countries: didn"t believe these regions were ready for full independence yet. Mandates = regions put under european control; european countries expected to prepare these regions for independence. Zionism form of jewish nationalism; encourages many jews to leave europe and go to the homeland; which, is under palestinian control.
