The apology (the defense of socrates) and crito . In crito, socrates condemnation has been postponed due to the religious ceremony that was taking place on a local island. This is the dialogue between socrates and his lifelong friend, He isn"t afraid to die because he believes he"s lived a long, fulfilling life. In other words, criton was worried about what other people would say about him after socrates" death. Says it would be easy to arrange: they"d pay a fee, and socrates would be exiled, but at least he"s still be alive. Argues socrates should escape because he needs to live in order to take care of and raise his two sons, who will be left fatherless if socrates is killed. Says he"ll make his decision based on reason. Socrates analogy the law is like a father. Just like you must obey your father, you must obey the law.
