Deprived dogs of food for many days, did surgery, inserted tubes. Noticed when the dogs were hungry, and saw food, they began to salivate: salivate when the food is in your mouth but humans & dog also salivate when they see food (drool at food, when hungry) Four terms: unconditioned stimulus (ucs, a stimulus which at the outset (beginning) of the experiment, causes a regular and measureable response. Food: unconditioned response (ucr, regular and measureable response to an unconditioned stimulus.
