Document Summary

In the article entitled (cid:498)views on race: ferguson doesn t need to happen in. Sacramento,(cid:499) the author kevin johnson discusses the racism and stereotypes that are portrayed upon african americans, and are targeted most often. One central idea johnson claims is that african americans are all stereotypically seen as having a low lifestyle, and not enough wealth is present among the group. Johnson conveys this idea with the personal story he states of when he was pulled over by the police for driving a porsche because they had assumed that johnson had stole the car. This example connects to the central idea because it demonstrates the views put upon. African americans and how they are stereotyped to all be the same. In addition, he also states that asides from thefts and stealing, african americans are heavily targeted for traffic violations and minor details are put onto them by white policemen that would otherwise be unimportant to other drivers.
