Poor recreational resources (ex: playgrounds, basketball courts, etc. ) Few after school activities offered (ex: boys and girls club, sports teams, learning clubs) Parents of students likely to have a low education level. Lack of learning technology (ex: computers, overhead screens, microsoft programming) No school field trip learning experiences (ex: zoo, d. c, museums) Poor high school, college, and career preparation for students. Poor access to schooling (have to walk a long way to get to a bus stop) or no bus transportation offered at all. Parents do not demand respect or discipline from their children. Lack of a stable, safe home environment. Often children have a poor, uncertain relationship with their parents which leads to poor interactions with other adults later on; lack of respect (teachers) No encouragement from parents to read/do homework.
