Document Summary

Lecture 26 - rock music and popular music. Broadening of the lyrical themes; such as global warming and life in the anthropocene. Mashup of the jay-z the black album (2003) and the beatles" the white album (1968) The mashup -- a mixing of two or more songs from nas, jay-z, etc. Jay-z song provides the name, which is a sort of comment on the beatles. Some people like the mix of the song since both the chorus and instrumental of the beatles mixes well with jay-z"s verses. Some people state that these two genres is better to be separate. Conceived as a deconstruction of the two songs. Eventually paul mccartney and ringo star both approved of his use. Born in atlanta, raised in chicago, worked in brooklyn. Noted for production work, initially less recognition for his rapping. Noted especially for introspective nature of the lyrics. Sung by syleena johnson - the sample part.
