Not all vision is conscious; when conscious, not all vision is perceptual. Vision: old pathway: super colliculus; unconscious stream of visual processing, new pathway: visual cortex; conscious streams of visual processing. Broadcast for free use in reasoning and for rational" control of action (including reporting) (block). Block says they have dissociable: you can have one without the other, ex: blind habits, artificial intelligence, philosophical, zombies, visual agnosia. Consciousness: subjective states of awareness/sentience that begins one when wakes and ends when one enters sleep, dies, or is otherwise unconscious . Differences in intentional content often make a p-conscious difference . The controversial part is that i take p-conscious properties to be distinct from any cognitive, intentional, or functional property. A great deal of confusion arises as a result of confusing p-consciousness with something else. Blindsight: a syndrome involving patients who have brain damage seeming to have holes in their visual fields.
