18 views2 pages

Document Summary

Ones who had most to lose started the revolution. Dress as mohawk indians & go onto the ship w/tea & dump it into the harbor. Individual is what"s important not the state. Political authority is only legitimate if the ppl consent to it. Individuals need to give up minor individual rights in order to receive gov"t protection for natural rights. Natural rights: life, liberty [no one can remove it/ unalienable rights], property. If gov"t cannot protect their natural rights, the ppl need to find a new gov"t. Plato: the gov"t should be run by the ppl who is enlightened themselves/ property is owned by everyone/ every father is a father to every child. Aristotle: middle way (plato was too extreme) ~ no one should be too extreme in between cowardice. If everyone owns property no one owns it, if every father is a father to every child then no one is father.
