National lawmaking - enacting policy that serves the interest of the entire nation. 17th amendment- the senate of the us shall be composed of 2 senators from each state, elected by the ppl thereof, for six years & each senator shall have one vote . Sec 2- the house of representatives will be completely re-elected every 2 years & calls for the number of delegates per state to be based on the state"s population. Sec 3- members of the senate must be elected every 6 years & that each state will have 2 senators (originally chosen by state legislatures) Sec 8- defines the enumerated powers of congress. Power to tax, borrow, coin money, regulate commerce, grant patents & copyrights, establish a military & declare war.
