Like to be around people who feel/felt the same. An unpleasant emotional and cognitive state based on desiring close relationships but lacking them. 3 types: intimate (wants significant other/relationship) relational (wants but lacks friendships) collective (wants but lacks integration in community) From research, most lonely ones are 18-30 years of age. Emotions could affect how you feel about other people. We seem to like people we associate with good things/experience, vice versa. Exposure - the more often we are exposed to something, the more we like it. The more interaction, the more we like the person (higher rating) Demographic (same age, education, height, social status, religion, race) Matching hypothesis (attractiveness) - fall for people with equivalent physical attractiveness. Ex. we both laughed at the same thing. Generally we like people who do us favors.
