31 views3 pages

Document Summary

A scientific model is a drawing, graph, equation or physical object that represents a natural process. We can use models (even mathematical models) to describe the social world. All models are wrong, but some are useful. You (generally) don"t give up a new technology after adoption. You forget about the thing before you share it. What should we change in the model to simulate a more interesting thing. Most ideas, opinions, and behaviors don"t go viral. Meme - an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture. What people on the internet call memes are image macros. Meme pool analogous to the gene pool. Memes vary in their ability to replicate. Interestingly, memetics was a meme that never really caught on. People choose to adopt or not adopt them. People choose to promote them to others or not. Memes spread through media creation and dissemination. Simplified model of media and the social world.
