Document Summary

What has title ix done, and what has it not done? (cid:1) Title ix is a federal law passed in 1972 that requires gender equality for boys and girls in any educational programs. It said no person in the united states shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be derived the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under ant educational program or activity receiving federal finance assistance. It affects both genders in schools but it mainly affects females, allowing them to participate in more programs than ever before and also receive the same treatment as males. Females are allowed to participates in more sports now and both genders are protected against sexual violence. There is still a long way to go for title ix.
