Females v males - sound is conceived differently (females = 225, males = 125 cycles per second) Children have highest fundamental frequency out of everyone. Pitch and loudness - males have thicker vocal folds (pitch) and more pressure, the more loudness variations an individual can have. Resonance - shape of oral and pharyngeal cavity modify sound wave - source filter theory. Oral cavity - separate from nasal cavity due to soft palate (soft palate separates them) Larynx to top of mouth/nose - where articulators are found.
