High concept" practices in production, marketing distribution and exhibition begin here (paralleling the rise of multiplex) Event movies are high concept projects differentiated from the mainstream film industry through an emphasis on style within the films and through an integration with marketing and merchandising. High concept filmmaking is the central development within post classical (ie contemporary) Hollywood cinema, a style of filmmaking molding by economic and institutional forces. High concept projects are conceives as highly marketable and most likely to reap huge dollars at the box office.
