Wherever you"re going, you should be going somewhere innovative. Innovation = survival: there will be many ideas, but only few will be truly able to breakthrough, diversifying ideas/collaborations provide higher risk, but allow for higher reward. Was one of the irst in social media analysis: people are nodes, and are connected by edges (connections) First to recognize that nodes and connections were both diferent (quantitatively and qualitatively: people had strong ties and weak ties. These ties had impacts on people"s ability to get a job. Weak ties are powerful; they are connected to opportunities that you don"t know about: they ofer you something diferent; something that you have no idea about. Get your ideas to have sex and cross-fertilize with as many ideas as possible. Alumni of paypal went on to create: youtube, tesla, slide, youtube, yammer, sequoia capital, clarium, 500 startups. Weak ties are important, and can connect strong ties.
