Micronutrients - vitamins, minerals, water - small amounts needed - doesn"t add more calories. 4 calories per gram - carbohydrates and proteins. Alcohol - 7 calories per gram - but not a nutrient. Malnutrition - any condition caused by excess or deficient food energy or nutrient make or by an imbalance of nutrients. A person can be both over and under nourished. Observation is made, hypothesis is made, experiment (control group vs experiment group), theory is formed or start process over. Placebo look/feel like experiment but does not contain any difference. Eliminate placebo effect - blind / double blinded so that you do not know what one you are getting and neither do the scientists so that there is no placebo effect.
