Drugs affect neurotransmitters: all drugs manipulate our neurotransmitters. Drugs work in three ways: antagonist: chemicals that block the action of a neurotransmitter, ex. Occipital lobe: processes what we see: primary visual cortex damage can cause blindness. Parietal lobe: processes somatosensory information: pain and sensation, spatial relations. Cerebellum: little brain sits above the brain stem: posture, balance and coordination, alcohol hinders this ability. The limbic system: emotional system: thalamus known as the sensory weigh station .
