The exertion of effort to produce or accomplish something. Care work: work performed face-to-face for the purpose of enhancing the capabilities of another person. Intimate & emotional: unpaid, but has become a paid market as women enter the labor market and bring in other people to care for their children. Housework: work to (cid:373)ai(cid:374)tai(cid:374) a household"s fu(cid:374)(cid:272)tio(cid:374)s. Market work: work done by employees for pay. How to divide the housework and care work within the family. When to pay for household services instead of doing the housework themselves. When to take care of children at home versus using child-care services. Access to college is correlated to women beginning to work outside of their home. Married women have cut their housework time almost in half, while married men have almost doubled theirs. In 1965, women performed four times as much child care as men, but only twice as much in 2010.
