Food and agriculture are main aspects of everyones day and life however, very few actually understand its importance and how it became what it is. A large portion of todays society consumes food with no regards as to where the food came from. This new york times article gives a slight explanation as to where food comes from and the effect that farms can have on the environment. The first issue that is discussed in this article is the lack of food available to a population that continues to expand. In this article, large farmers are portrayed to be more efficient compared to small, local farmers because of their ability to mass-produce crops. Large farmers are responsible for an incredible portion of food sales in the united states however, they make up only a small percentage of all farms (lusk, 2016).
