17 views1 pages

Document Summary

Malaria has been a dif cult disease to get over in sub-saharan africa mainly because of the climate and the lack of resources to effectively deal with the issue. Even though there is resistance to malaria with acquisition of sickle cell anemia, not enough people located in the area have this diagnosis. It is also possibly fatal if two parents with sickle cell have children due to the double recessive fatality chance. There is also a growing immunity to certain control drugs used to disrupt the vectors of malaria. It has also become known that malaria seems to have great spikes in prevalence in tropical areas compared to areas that are more temperate. Because of the high amount of poverty in tropical areas it can be said that malaria is more drawn to these developing areas and impeding their economic growth, or poverty may promote malaria transmission.
