In the north, industrial revolution, market based competition and distinct working classes became popular. North and south were becoming incompatible on slavery basis. Senate remained since each state has same number of senate. Children born after this will be free from slavery after age of 25. The southern planters were wary of northern political power, wary that northern politicians can use their power for their advantage. The senate voted no conditions on slavery in missouri. Henry clay, proceeded to engineer the political compromise. In exchange, the line of missouri southern border (3630), would be extended westward.
