Perception of being in several locations at once. 2002 rep. joe baca (d-california) proposed salvia be classified as schedule i drug (did not receive enough votes) Legal in most states except texas and colorado. Has been used for over 3000 years by native americans in mexico. Mescaline = most active drug in peyote cactus. Tops of plant are cut/sliced and then dried (called buttons ) Chewed to produce effects or soaked in water for intoxicating drink. Tasted of cactus = bitter having to taste it. Users will often grind into powder and pour into capsules to avoid senses. Hallucinations = consistent with actual experience and may have altered. Effects and side effects similar to those of other hallucinogens. Often used custards, baked goods, potatoes or in eggnog.
