Knowledge about society: vasario argued that even without his knowledge of the world, he would be innately genius. Why were there no women artists: they were at home, domestic arts (crafts) like tapestry and pottery. Crafts are seen as manual labor instead of fine art and thinking. Women artists in the 16th, 17th, 18th century usually had fathers or husbands who were artists could hang out in their studios. If they were allowed into academies: they aren"t allowed to draw nude models they don"t know how to draw the human form they can"t do religious paintings or war scenes.
