Personality disorder- pattern of inner experience and outward behavior that impairs a person"s sense of self. 3 clusters: odd/eccentric behavior, dramatic behavior, high degree of anxiety. Categorical rules: problematic traits are either present or absent, personality disorder is either displayed or absent, personality disorder is not marked troubles by traits outside the disorder. Deeply distrust others and are suspicious of their motives. Suspicions are not delusions--- they are not firmly held or very bizarre. Grew up in a hostile environment, always had to be on alert (psycho) Avoid and are removed from social relationships and demonstrate little emotion. Weak social skills, rarely show feelings, no need for attention. Deficiencies in their thinking, unable to pick up emotional cues (cog) Ideas of reference- events pertain to them in some way. Extreme discomfort, very odd patterns of thinking and behavioral eccentricities. Bodily delusions- sensing an external force/special extrasensory abilities. Flat affect, inappropriate, humorless, bad attention, loose associations.
