7-8% of cases go to trial in america. Police were killed more in the 1960-1970s. When people start to distrust the government, crime rate increases. Tedtalk: bryan stevenson - we need to talk about an injustice. Bryan is around jail and death row a lot due to his occupation. Ted has an identity and it adds meaning to the lectures that would not otherwise be there. Grew up in a traditional african american family. She thought he was special, out of 10 kids. Always do the right thing, even when it"s the hard thing. She had this talk with all of the grandkids. 1972: 300k incarcerated 2012: 2. 3 mil incarcerated. Us has the highest rate of incarceration. Of black men between 18-30 is in jail/prison/probation/parole. In urban cities, 50-60% of all men of color are in jail/prison/probation/parole. Us system treats guilty and rich better than innocent and poor. In alabama, 34% of black men have lost the right to vote.
