Technological determinism = asserts that for a civilization to advance, technology needs to advance and vice versa. No advancements in tech, no advancements in society. Advancements in society are inherently linked to advancements in technology. We are always trying to figure out how our lives are affected by technology. Be careful of the definition of tech because it"s not just technology. Technology and communication are linked to each other in order to create human progress. The more we understand tech, the more we can link ourselves to the rest of the world. The idea of td was established by thorstein veblen and furthered by charles beard. Back then people had the idea that tech was a gigantic thing that conquered everything in terrifying rapidity . Every time someone builds a new residential tower, you kill history. Once you change the skyline, you can"t unchange it. Technology was terrifying because it changed what people knew.
