Composition : nitrogen (78%), oxygen (21%), co2 (0. 04%) Air pollution : chemicals added to atmosphere by natural events/human activities - high enough concentrations to be harmful. Primary air pollutant : harmful substance emitted directly into atmosphere. Carbon (di)oxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen (di)oxide, hydrocarbons, particulates. Secondary air pollutant : harmful substance formed in atmosphere when pap reacts with substances found in atmosphere/other air pollutants. Particulate matter: solid/liquid particles suspended in air. Lead: soft metal used in industrial/chemical processes. Acute + chronic effects - permanent impairment of cognitive ability. Nitrogen : gases produced by chemical interactions between atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen at high temperatures; greenhouse gases (cause difficulty breathing) Sulfur : gases produced by chemical interactions between sulfur and oxygen. Carbon : monoxide (poisonous gas); dioxide (greenhouse gas)
